Fyvie Studios' 2026 Christmas Mini Sessions will take place on October 24th from 9:00am–2:00pm at the beautiful Dundas Loft, just a short drive from Burlington, Ontario.

This year, I wanted to create something that felt a little different from the typical Christmas mini session.

Warm. Elevated. Minimal. Timeless.

A one-of-a-kind Christmas set designed to feel festive without overwhelming your family — because ultimately, the people in the photographs should always be the most important part.

A One-of-a-Kind Christmas Mini Setup

Every year brings a new opportunity to create something special for my Christmas photography clients, and for 2026 I've chosen the gorgeous Dundas Loft as our setting.

Rather than filling the space with Christmas props, bright colours and distractions, this year's set is intentionally designed with a more refined approach.

Think beautiful seasonal textures, warm Christmas details and an elevated, neutral palette that photographs beautifully.

The goal is to create images that immediately feel like Christmas without losing the timeless style Fyvie Studios is known for.

You'll have photographs perfect for your family Christmas cards, gifts for grandparents and holiday announcements — but also portraits you'll genuinely want to keep after the decorations have been packed away.

Christmas Minis Near Burlington, Ontario

Although the Loft itself is located in Dundas, these sessions were created with my Burlington families in mind.

The Dundas Loft gives us something that can be difficult to find for Christmas photography: a beautiful indoor location with plenty of character and space to create an elevated holiday set.

And because everything takes place indoors, there's no worrying about freezing temperatures, rain, wind or whatever unpredictable weather Southern Ontario decides to give us in October.

You simply arrive with your family and we take care of the rest.

Why Are Christmas Minis Happening in October?

Yes, I know.

October 24th feels early to start thinking about Christmas.

But there's a very good reason.

Holding my Burlington Christmas Mini Sessions early means you'll receive your photographs with plenty of time to choose your favourites, design your cards and have your Christmas cards ordered and delivered well before the December rush.

No realizing it's December 10th and you still haven't ordered your cards.

No expedited shipping.

No wondering whether they'll arrive before Christmas.

Your family photos are done, your gallery is ready, and you can check one thing off your Christmas list before the holiday craziness really begins.

What to Wear for Your Christmas Mini Session

One of the biggest questions I receive before family sessions is:

“What should we wear?”

And you don't have to figure it out alone.

I provide my clients with wardrobe guidance before their session and am happy to help coordinate your family's outfits so everything works beautifully with the Christmas set.

I generally recommend coordinating rather than perfectly matching.

Warm neutrals, creams, browns, rich seasonal tones, subtle textures and classic pieces can all photograph beautifully for Christmas family portraits.

Most importantly, your family should still look like your family.

You don't need matching Christmas pyjamas unless that's genuinely your thing.

The goal is polished and cohesive — not identical.

Relaxed Christmas Family Photography

If the thought of getting everyone dressed, smiling and perfectly behaved for photographs makes you nervous, please don't let it.

You don't need perfectly behaved children for a great Christmas gallery.

In fact, I don't expect them.

My approach to family photography in Burlington is focused on connection rather than forcing every child to stand still and smile at the camera.

We'll absolutely create the photograph for Grandma where everyone is looking.

But we'll also capture the cuddles, laughs, personalities and little interactions in between.

Those are usually the photographs parents end up loving most.

Christmas Minis move quickly, but they're still designed to feel relaxed, fun and easy.

Christmas Photographs You'll Actually Want on Your Walls

Christmas Minis are obviously perfect for holiday cards.

But I don't believe your entire gallery should have an expiry date of December 26th.

By keeping this year's Christmas set refined and intentionally styled, we're creating portraits that feel seasonal without becoming novelty photographs.
