I recently photographed a branding session at Yogatastic in Burlington, Ontario, featuring an adorable litter of English Bulldog puppies to help promote their puppy yoga experiences.

The goal was to create a collection of professional images that didn't just show what Yogatastic offers — but captured exactly what it feels like to be there.

Relaxed. Fun. Social. And, in this particular case, full of puppies.

If you've never experienced puppy yoga, it's exactly as fun as it sounds.

Yoga meets a room full of playful puppies, creating an experience that's as much about enjoying the animals and having fun as it is about the class itself.

For this session at Yogatastic Burlington, our tiny models were a litter of English Bulldog puppies — complete with wrinkly faces, little paws and personalities that made it nearly impossible to put the camera down.

Rather than simply photographing the space or creating a few traditional promotional images, we wanted to showcase the interaction between the puppies, participants and the yoga environment.

Those candid moments are what tell the story.

This session gave us the opportunity to create a varied gallery for Yogatastic to use across their website, social media, advertising and future puppy yoga promotions.

We photographed the puppies individually, interacting with one another and, most importantly, engaging with people throughout the studio.

And English Bulldog puppies certainly don't follow a photography shot list.

They wandered.

They played.

They cuddled.

They investigated everything.

And that's exactly what made the photographs work.

Instead of forcing the session into something overly polished, we allowed the puppies to be puppies and photographed the moments happening naturally around them.

The resulting images feel playful, inviting and completely appropriate for the experience Yogatastic is offering.
